I have read and heard from people some of which are successful in life and some average and some not too success, but they stress the need for a good plan if you must succeed in anything. I also read an interview with Ryan Blair, who is a serial entrepreneur and author of the book "Nothing to Lose, Everything to Gain." who openly said there is no need for plans if you want to succeed. So what then?
In of this and by personal experience it is certain that one cannot go anywhere without a plan, "but" Yes there is a but. I will uncover it later. Seriously if you are new to Internet marketing you probably have been exposed to all kinds of n unending hype advertisements. I don't know what stage you're in with your online marketing career which is the determining factor whether you have come to the realization that all the glitter is not gold. Though i like to say "most of the glitter is not gold" Because I've seen some real blink blink that's really gold The truth is there is a method that separates success and failure, and if you're privileged enough to find it, then you will be on your way to succeeding in any endeavor of life including this so rewarding business ever called, affiliate marketing. Before you can succeed on the Internet, you must realize one thing: There is going to be some work involved. It is madness that needs a psychiatrist to check such head who stick to those guys that says "buy their software or system, push a button or just a click and go to bed and a million dollars will roll into your pocket" So what is it then? The truth is that you can never succeed without getting involve, and i mean putting in your effort to work things out for yourself. There are good Soft wares needed too but they require your effort.
I entered the Internet marketing world in 2009, this was after ten years of roaming about on the internet with all kinds of wrong things ranging from wasting time and money on pornography to gambling and all sort of online shit.I finally found something of beneficial which is what the internet is truly about "marketing products". I naturally have the passion to tell people or let a person know of something beneficial. I love to teach, i get a lot of fulfillment when i help a person carry his or her load on her head, or help them find their way home. So I also found a drive and passion information marketing. But was that enough? Nope. I made effort to convert that passion in affiliate marketing, I had my own knowledge in selling on the street before i got online, but i have come to the realization that when it comes to the internet, your initial acquired skills, knowledge, education etc count very little. Its just as there is a huge difference between selling homes as a real estate and marketing a home based business. Your real estate skills won't help in marketing a home based business. When it comes to training to acquire the skill for internet business, I do not think that there is any training you can have that will prepare you for success on the Internet besides the Internet itself.
But hei! No knowledge is lost and no knowledge cannot fit in any area of life including online business, I'm just saying don't completely rely on what you know to get started. At least one initial experience paid me off. One thing I have learned initially was that whenever I find myself in a new or strange business, ethic of success requires that I take my time to read one or two winners in that line. And one of the greatest lesson online that pays off so well, is the word "research" It was not until i first had to obey this great advise from an experience marketer that i started seeing positive result.
Research is the first plan to get started online. research on what? Well, for me, the first research was on myself. I have leaned earlier that money hides in what you can do and love doing and will do even for free. So I started researching to know if the internet has something that i love doing and sure it did have a lot of it. Like the one I'm doing right now, telling you what to do to get successful.
Just as our faces or finger prints are different from each other so also are the things we can do "Everyone is an expert on something" Heard that on Squidoo. And the good part of it is that even if we find ourselves among a group of people that is doing the same thing, each person has a way of doing it uniquely different from the other to make him or her successful differently. The reason to research on yourself and then research the internet with the result of yourself, is to find yourself a profitable niche market that is suitable for you.
Plan is the most needed item to get successful in anything including online business, plan is a road map, plan gives you the picture of where you are going. Like you cannot travel to meet a friend or business partner in a place without planning to go there, and it it you will have a picture of the place and the thing you want to go do there or discuss. The rest of the things to plan depends on what you want to do. Affiliate marketing is a very large scope.
Important Point About Plan
There are very important points i want to share here about plan.
1. Plan itself is useless if you will not work it -
2. There is never a perfect plan so don't wait to have a perfect plan.
3. The best plan is the one you are in it doing it, as you get involve in the rough or imperfect plan it will unfold its best deep and perfect plan that will work.
Because there is never a perfect plan, so if you don't get into it and work it, you will never find the perfect plan. Plan takes its perfect shape when you are working it as you plan.
For a good example of plan, here is a seven points plan, i learned and followed by doing them online.
1. Keywords Research
2. Blogging - Wordpress or blogger
3. Sign up on social networking sites - e.g Squidoo
4. Article Marketing
5. SEO
6. Traffic Exchanges and Safelist
7. PPC Advertising
Keyword Research
You start with research and never get to stop researching in other to stay on top. Finding the right keywords that are searched for frequently and not heavily contested by other competitors is vital before you start building and to get good placement in the search engine rankings. There are several keyword tools to use but for a beginner just starting out, you can use Google AdWords Keyword Tool, word tracker, SEO Book. These tools provide you with suggestions for good keywords and how often those keywords are searched on monthly basis.
This is hugely determined by your niche, it may be difficult to find single keywords that are not competitive, so in those cases you can opt for using long tail keyword phrases instead. Once you have selected at least 10 keywords or keyword phrases, you can begin to use those keywords to write and build your blogs and articles.
Blogging
For a complete beginner or those who don;t want to pay for a website, the next big thing is to set up a blog with either http://www.blogger.com or http://www.wordpress.com Its easy and free to set up an account in these two blogging platform, but I do recommend that you host your own blog by purchasing your own domain name. Once your blog is set up, the next step is to start adding quality content to your blog. You can talk about your affiliate products its benefit etc on your blog or you can just blog using keywords-rich text related to your niche with recommendation links to your affiliate products
Social Networks
The third step to be good in affiliate marketing as a newbie is to find social networking sites like Squidoo by setting up a Squidoo lens on your affiliate product or a list of products. Squidoo is a social networking community that allows anyone to set up his or her own personal webpage, referred to as lens. A good advantages of Squidoo is that it is free to set up and carries a very high PageRank which Google loves. Other networking sites are facebook, myspace, twitter etc
Article Marketing
Articles marketing plays a vital role in your internet marketing success. Once your article is submitted to an article directory, it goes round to the public readers and your article may also get picked up by more other directories, thus creating more exposure and backlinks to your blog site and product. I have personally received the best results from using EzineArticles and Isnare. Using these two directories will help to distribute your story to thousands of other directories and potential readers.
Traffic Exchanges
Many marketers frown at the thought of using traffic exchanges and safelist as a marketing method, but I have found great success using them also. There is a method to safelist and traffic exchanges, and it is simple: Do not advertise your affiliate product. If you want success with traffic exchanges and safelists, you need to advertise a squeeze page providing some sort of free gift that is related to your product. Add an autoresponder form to your squeeze page to build a opt-in list and market to your prospects forever.
Pay Per Click PPC advertising
The lats plan is PPC advertising. Pay per click will help generate traffic to your business immediately, but I do suggest you take caution before starting a PPC campaign, it can be a little complicating. Unlike other advertising, you do not want to embellish your ads or omit any important information that will not yield result after your investment. I suggest you include as much information as possible so you don't receive any curiosity clicks. Pay per click is exactly what it states, you will pay every time someone clicks on your ad.
Now tie it all together to your choice of social network
Now that we've got all the components, you need to tie everything together. For Squidoo user, you need to tie it to your Squidoo lens as the base, then send all your traffic to your lens, using PPC campaigns, article marketing, and your blog RSS feed. Doing this will strengthen your lens rank within the Squidoo community, and also interchange it with your blog, and at the end the result is creating a great traffic to your affiliate products. Using your keywords, send hyperlink Anchored text directly from your Squidoo lens and blog directly to your affiliate product's landing page. You should also send the prospects from your autoresponder campaign to your affiliate landing page too.
It may sound difficult at first and it may take you a while to set everything up, but once you have the system set up, you will create a whirlwind of traffic to your affiliate product. The steps included in this system will take some research on your part because there was too much information for just one article. But if you are willing, this system will lessen the learning curve and help propel you towards internet success.
I learn this technical plan from Marc Marseille, an Internet marketer who specializes in affiliate marketing and list building marketing methods. To view a sample of this marketing plan in action, you can visit http://www.squidoo.com/Cash-Leverage.
